TED ANNIS - Director of Coaching & Player Development

Originally from Belleville, Ontario, Ted played Junior hockey for the Junior A Kingston Voyageurs of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League and then college hockey at Princeton University where he lettered for three years. Ted's coaching background includes 7 years of AAA experience with the New Jersey Rockets (including the 2000-2001 Tier 1 National Champion Peewees), a year with the New Jersey Kings program and 4 years as Director of the Stars program.   He was most recently co-coach of the 2009-2010 Stars Mite team.

As Director of Hockey at Princeton Sports Center, Ted is responsible for player development through the Intro to Hockey program, the Princeton Sports Center Hockey Academy and the CJTHL recreational league. His on-ice roll is as skills development and powerskating specialist.

As Director of Coaching and Player Development for the Stars program, Ted works with the Stars coaching staff to develop a full-year practice plan and teach consistent hockey systems throughout the entire organization. Ted is also responsible for weekly skills practices and, more importantly, the long term development of all players in the Stars program.

Ted's coaching philosophy includes strong team play, a heavy focus on fundamental skills, and a thorough understanding of hockey principles.


 
CHAD DANIELS (PeeWee A, Midget U16AA)

A Hamilton, NJ native, Chad was a founding member of the NJ Kings organization, where he played for the Kings Junior program.  Chad was also a standout hockey player at Steinert High School where he tallied 154 career points and was named Conference Player of the Year and received All-State honors.  Chad continued his junior hockey career with the Syracuse Stars of the Empire League before attending SUNY Cortland where he played club hockey for four seasons.

Chad joined the Stars for the 2008/09 season as an assistant coach at Midget U16. Chad was also an assistant coach of the NJ Kings Junior team in 08/09.  Most recently Chad served as head coach of the 2009-2010 Stars PeeWee A team.

His coaching philosophy focuses on dedication, balancing hockey with scholastics, skill development, game knowledge, and mental strength.  In his spare time Chad enjoys learning the guitar and snowboarding.


ANDRE FAUST (Skills Instructor)

Born and raised in Joliette, Quebec, Andre played for the Princeton University from 1988-1992 and was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the 1989 NHL entry draft.   He played professionally for the NHL Philadelphia Flyers, the AHL Springfield Falcons and also in Germany and Sweden, retiring in 2002.

Andre has coached professionally at both the youth and college levels, most recently as an assistant with the Princeton University Men’s team.  Bringing a wealth of hockey knowledge to the ice, Andre is known for his attention to detail and his dedication to the personal development of each player.

Andre returns to the Stars for the 2010-2011 season, serving as a Stars Skills Instructor, running practices and helping to develop and build player's skills.
 

ROXANNE GAUDIEL (Goaltending Instructor)
Originally from Venice, FL, Roxanne attended Berkshire Prep School and then Princeton University, where she lettered for four years and established records for highest save percentage and lowest goals against average in Princeton Women's Hockey history.   Along the way, Roxanne was selected to the US U22 National Women's team, and most recently spent the 2006-2007 season with the Quebec Avalanche of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL).
Roxanne began her coaching career as the Director and Head Coach of the Team Florida U16 Girls program.  She has also been an instructor at the Kuper and Webster Hockey Academy in Montreal and acted as a goaltending skills instructor at a number of camps and clinics.  Roxanne's coaching style includes a heavy emphasis on fundamentals with special attention to skating technique and reactions - teaching the mechanics so that goalies can understand the position and use that to make their own style better.

The 2010-2011 season is Roxanne's third season as the Stars Goaltending Instructor.
 
ZAC GROSS (Midget U16 AA, Bantam A & Skills Instructor)
American born, Zac played his minor (MTHL) and junior (MTJHL) hockey in Toronto.  Captaining three teams in six years and a four-time all star, Zac was also a member of the US Select Sixteen and Seventeen teams based at the Olympic training centers, winning a silver medal in Mexico City in 1995.  After playing one year in the USHL, Zac earned a full scholarship to Quinnipiac College in its first year of Division I eligibility.  Professionally, Zac has played in the IHL (Long Beach), WCHL (El Paso-team point leader), and European First Division (Villiard De Lans - team point leader).
Zac's coaching experience includes several seasons a head coach of New Jersey Kings Junior and Midget teams and summer showcase teams as well as two seasons with the Stars program, most recently as the head coach of the 2009-2010 Midget U16 A team. His demonstrated abilities to bring excitement and intesity to player development have helped a variety of players move onto NE prep school and college hockey opportunities.
 
 
 
RICH LISK (Squirt)

Rich has been professionally involved in the sport of hockey for the past 16 years.  He started his professional career as Marketing Director for the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia Phantoms and then moved on to be President and General Manager of the Trenton Titans of the ECHL (including a Kelly Cup Championship season).  Since 2003 Rich has co-owned and operated the Competitive Edge Hockey School and in 2006 co-founded a 3-on-3 hockey league called the Pond Hockey League.

Rich started his coaching career with the Cubs program in the Lawrence Flames organization and then continued as a coach for several years at the Cubs, Mite and Squirt levels.  Rich has been a coach in the Stars organization for the past 2 seasons, most recently as head coach of the 2009-2010 Stars Squirt team.

Rich's approach to coaching is simple - develop the children's skills to move to the next level, teach sportsmanship in a "team first" atmosphere and, most important, HAVE FUN. 
 

 

PETER MARICIC (PeeWee)
Peter was born and raised in Scotch Plains, NJ and played his youth hockey as a defenseman at the Tier I (AAA) American Eagles and NJ Rockets. He joined the NJ Kings program through Midget and Junior and then played Division I NEPSAC (Prep) with Albany Academy, graduating in 2005.
 
A large portion of his hockey training was under the tutelage of high level coaches, including Len Quesnelle, Mark Dennehy, Scott Bertoli, and Benoit Morin, all disciples of Coach Don Cahoon of Princeton University. 
 
His coaching philosophy emphasizes a strong understanding of hockey concepts, teamwork and hard work. This is Coach Maricic’s first season as part of the NJ Stars staff.
 
 
BLAINE SILAGYI (Mite)
Coach Blaine is a prominent, well-known New Jersey hockey persona. His 43 years of playing hockey and 35 years of coaching experience speak volumes about his dedication to the sport and its youth.
 
Blaine has coached a wide variety of ages in the Central Jersey area, and for the past five years he has headed some of the Stars programs younger teams. From Mite through PeeWee and Bantam, Blaine gives a great deal of his time to work with young players looking to develop their skill and understanding of hockey. 
 
Blaine is also a senior coach in Princeton Sports Center’s youth programs, including Intro to Hockey, Hockey Academy and the CJTHL.

ANDREW TRIMBLE (Midget U16 A)

A native of Manasquan, NJ, Andrew Trimble enters his first season as a coach in the Stars organization.
 
Coach Trimble grew up playing in the Brick Hockey Club and ended his career at Manasquan High School as the program's leading scorer, MVP of his conference, an All-Shore selection, All-Tournament for the 97' Garden State Games, and a selection to the 98' NJ State Senior All-Star Game.  Andrew went on to play and serve as Assistant Captain for the Laconia Leafs (Tier III Jr. A, AJHL) in Laconia, NH and NCAA Hockey for SUNY Buffalo State in the highly competitive Div. III SUNYAC.
 
His coaching experience includes the Columbia University Women’s Hockey team in 2008-2009 and the head coach a Jonathan Dayton High School in 2009-2010.
 
Aside from his duties with the Bulldogs, Andrew serves as chairman of the Laconia Leafs Alumni Association and on the staff of the 'Training Camp Hockey' School.  He currently is a Financial Advisor for Bishop, Rosen & Co, a boutique wealth management firm in Lower Manhattan. 


KEVIN WELSH (Squirt)

Kevin grew up and played youth hockey in the Buffalo, NY area. He began volunteering at Princeton Sports Center in 2000 by assisting with the Hockey Initiation program and then joined the Stars program as an assistant coach at the Mite level. Kevin has coached in the Stars program for the past 7 years at levels ranging from Mite to Bantam and holds a Level III coaching certificate. Most recently Kevin was co-coach of the 2009-2010 Stars Mite team.

Kevin believes that a hockey player at the Squirt level should focus strongly on improving his/her basic hockey skill sets, which for the foundation upon which further development is based. Building on these basic skills will help a player to improve individually while also allowing him/her to apply those abilities within a team dynamic. Kevin also stresses the importance of teamwork, emphasizing a game where all players have substantial defensive as well as offensive responsibilities.
 
Most importantly, Kevin stresses the need for players, as well as coaches, to approach the game of hockey with a healthy respect for each other as well as their competitors. The ability to win with humility and lose with dignity is a life lesson that needs to be taught and learned by all.
